What's New to the Creek?
AIR CONDITIONING & IT’S ALL IN ONE BUILDING
The biggest complaints from two years ago were about the temperature and location. This year we have gained access to Campbell University Gore Arena where they host Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, and other events.
Event Description
The final schedule will be sent out closer to the event date, but expect:
8am safety and weigh-in
9:30am Competition Begins
1:00pm - 2:00pm midday break
6:30-7:30 pm Competition finishes up
Event Rules
SPARC Rules V1.5 will be the standard format used, however, any rules changes will be written in the space below and any future changes will be sent out to competitors through email. Rules will become locked 2 months before the day of the tournament so that teams will have proper time to adjust if needed.
1) Time
This year we are going to implement 2-minute rounds so that robots can be more aggressive, controlling, and entertaining
2) Plastics
The plastic class is meant to encourage builders who may not have access to metalworking tools, or who would like a new challenge. As such, we ask that competitors conform to the spirit of the rules and not try to loophole them. Competitors found to be doing this may be disqualified, or otherwise be forced to bear some terrible consequences.
-
“Anything that I can touch must be plastics”
-
Armor, structure, wheels, weapon, etc. must all be made of plastic or polymers (ie. foam wheels are ok)
-
Motors, electronics, axles, fasteners, and adhesives can be any material, but cannot be used in such a way to enhance the structural integrity, armor the robot, or enhance any weapon
Allowed materials:
-
PLA/PLA+, PET/PETG, ABS, Acrylic, PVC, standard SLA, ASA, and TPU
Not Allowed materials:
-
UHMW, Carbon FIber, Kevlar, Fiberglass, Nylon, PC
Please contact us if there is a material you would like to check!
3) Brackets
This tournament will be a double-elimination bracket with no chance for a true second.
Seeds will be chosen at random and there may be a chance of first-round byes depending on the # of competitors
Competitors will have 20 minutes from the end of their matches to be ready to compete in their next match
Only one postponement per team/group (even if you have multiple robots)
4) Wall Pinning Rules
-
10 Second Wall Pins
-
1 Unstick Per Match
5) Updates
- Polycarbonate and Nylon are removed from allowed plastics for the plastic antweight class (Full Combat ant and beetle are excluded from this rule)
