Event Description
Combat at MakerCon 2026 is part of our annual Gulf Coast MakerCon Celebration of the DIY Inventive Spirit! Huge thanks to Build Fight Fun for again supplying the combat arena for our 2026 event, and to the Yuengling Draft Haus and Kitchen for welcoming us back again this year!
Event Info
- Classes: Fairy, Ant, Beetle
- A pre-paid registration of $25 per bot is required, which goes towards prize money for the top 3 winners in each class. If your robot isn't on the waitlist, you will receive an invoice via PayPal which you can pay your registration online. The top bot in each category earns the Rusty Wrench Award - which may be an actual rusty wrench or a laser-cut version, but it'll be a wrench!
- Prize Purse: Cash prize as a split on registration fees (80% applied to awards) divided between first/second/third place.
- Pits: Teams must supply their own table and chairs. Power will be distributed as well as possible to all pits, and there will also be a charging station. --> In addition to a table (1 per team please) ,bring extension cords, power strips, safety glasses, lipo bags etc <---
- Event will be livestreamed on Twitch.tv/amrocfablab
- Pre-Event email will have more detailed information about the event.
Schedule:
- Load-In and Safety Inspections: 8:30 am -9 am
- Drivers Meeting : 9:30 am
- Must pass Safety by 10 am to generate brackets to start fights by 11 am.
- Lunch at noon
- After lunch, fights run continuously, with a maximum of 20 min. between matches
Rules: SPARC Ruleset plus:
- Exposed batteries are automatic forfeits
- One postponement
- One unstick per fight (if you become unintentionally stuck)
- No entanglements
- Tapouts are allowed
- Match length: TBD day of event, will be 2-3 minutes depending on fight volume
- Double Elimination with a double final if needed, with the option of single elimination if the event runs overtime
